On Saturday 19th June, 'The Next Generation 2' Sprawl 'n' Brawl MMA fight night took place in Birmingham. This time with 7 fights lined up, a number of new combatants, it was an exciting Mixed-Martial-Arts-packed evening for all the folks in the crowd. httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6i2Imgck21g The lineup for the mixed martial arts fights were:
Rupinder has trained at Stevie B's Gym for around 20 months at this point in time. For 18 months of that, he's been having personal training with Steve. He trains hard. He feels that 'drain' afterwards, where for a short time you feel somewhat ill. The nervous system gets hit in a heavy way! This feeling only lasts 30 minutes at the most though, and soon enough you feel great about what you've achieved. Rupinder is a guy who has done well for himself. He's toying with the idea of getting into body-building, but his main objective to his training is to get himself in 'reasonable' condition for the rest of his life. In this video below, we catch up with him following a priority leg routine, designed as part of an ongoing training system which trains the body as a whole unit.
Over at Stevie B's Gym & Martial Arts Academy, Steve holds a class just for the Ladies - the Ladies' Dirty Boxing class! So what goes on in these sessions? Well, the ladies are given a gruelling fitness routine, typically the sort of thing Steve gets guys in similar classes to do. But the ladies also have to learn fighting techniques, and put them to practice. They don't do this so that they can end up as fighters.... No, these ladies just like some of the mixed martial arts stuff that's going on, and they want to feel safer on the streets. As a bonus to this, they get faster, they get harder, and they get a hell of a lot fitter. And, they have a ton of fun while they do it! Trust us when we say that if you think this class looks easy, come and try it for yourself! The video below reveals all...:
Chris Rice teaches Mixed Martial Arts in Birmingham, in a class he calls Sprawl n Brawl. MMA is a tough sport, where fighters are trained a huge range of standing techniques, ground work and submissions. Some of this can be used in street defence, but generally these guys are training so that they can get into a ring to have a few rounds against a competitor. It required high levels of fitness, and of course the ability to learn and implement new skills. In the video below, we see some of one of Chris' classes - as some of his students work up to a level ready for a fight just a few weeks weeks from the time of filming. Matt has been a long time user of the facilities at Stevie B's Gym & Martial Arts Academy in Birmingham. Through his years of training experience, he's tried all sorts of different routines and eating patterns to acheive what he wanted to. During the day, Matt runs one of Birmingham's finest tattooing outfits. The reputation for his and his colleague's work is World renowned. Obviously, due to the nature of his work, he sees many bodies a day, both male and female, and so is presented with physiques he subconsciously critiques, over and over. So what does Matt think of people's bodies, and what methods of training suit his hectic schedule? He explains all in this video.
Carlton is a guy who has a lot of training experience, and splits his body up into different body parts to get what he feels are maximum results from his training. However, he felt he had a deficiency with his chest size. Even though he trains with heavy weights, and trains hard, he wasn't happy with his results. So, he asked Stevie B for some advice. In this video, Steve takes Carlton through some extra work, to ensure only his chest muscles are used for the results he is after.
